CHAPTER ONE
1.0 HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF SIWES
      In 1974 the Federal Government of Nigeria introduced the national policy on industrial training called the students industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) the programmed is under the umbrella of Federal Ministry of Education through industrial training fund   (ITF) designed to help students acquire the necessary practical educational experience in their field of study and other related professions.
1.1 OBJECTIVES OF SIWES
Industrial work experience scheme SIWES is to provide avenue for student’s in institution or higher learning to acquire industrial skills and experience in their course of study. To provide students with an opportunity apply their knowledge in real work and practice thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice to make the transition from school to the world of work easier and to enhance students contact for later job placement to prepare students for the work situation they are to meet after graduation. To enlist and strengthen employer involvement in the entire educational process of preparing tertiary graduate for employment in industries.
1.2 AIMS OF SIWES
The programmed is aimed at exposing the students to the use of various machines and equipment professional work methods and ways of safe guarding the work areas in industries as well as other organizations and parastatals. It is also intended that the student through a process of relation to academic knowledge and application would understand the underlying principles and become better focused and acquired the practical applications towards excellence in his or her discipline.




CHAPTER TWO
2.0 THE EXPERIENCE ACQUIRED DURING SIWES
      Experience gained in the programmed doing my SIWES program at Birnin Kebbi Local Government indeed  helped me a lot in Finance accounts and office technique methods. And my efficiency before and after training is in comparable. I got to know the important of good communication and inter-personal skills and I got to know the important of good working system skill. Develop these skills I was shown office technique method. And various finance accounts responsibilities. I can now apply the office technique methods and finance accounts taught. I can use the experience gained from the SIWES in discussion in lecture room.




CHAPTER THREE
3.0 SIGNIFICANCE OF SIWES TO THE STUDENTS
      Preparing students for individual work situation which meet after graduation, it is an avenue to acquired industrial skills    and experience in approved courses of study, it exposes students to work methods and technique in handling equipment and machineries not available at institutions and provide students with an opportunity to apply knowledge in real work situation thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice.






CHAPTER FOUR
4.0 PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED DURING SIWES
      Non-payment of SIWES allowances.
4.1 POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
      To make provision for payment of SIWES allowances.
